Restoring & Upgrading a Smart London Townhouse

Restoring & Upgrading a Smart London Townhouse

A Modernised System for Seamless Living

When a flood damaged the basement plant room of this five-storey London townhouse, the owner saw an opportunity—not just to repair, but to upgrade. The existing control system, responsible for lighting, motorised blinds, skylight windows, and heating, had become unreliable/ They needed a solution that would restore full functionality while modernising the home’s technology—without disrupting the carefully designed interiors.

Reuse and Retrofitting

With no access to original plans or system documentation, we forensically mapped out the existing setup, identifying salvageable infrastructure, and designing a streamlined upgrade. This hinged on the introduction of a Lutron Homeworks system for effortless control and flexibility for the client.

Connectivity was also upgraded, with high-performance Wi-Fi and a Control4 AV system, ensuring a seamless, intuitive experience across the entire home.

Minimising Disruption

By taking a reuse approach we ensured that much of the existing cabling and fittings remained intact, preserving the home’s interiors. New Lutron keypads and thermostats were installed to blend seamlessly into the existing design, providing elegant, modern control points.

Effortless Control, Instantly Intuitive

The result? A single, unified interface allows the homeowner to control lighting, blinds, heating, and upgraded AV system and air conditioning effortlessly from an app or sleek keypad, with minimal disruption throughout the home.
